How to Play Bollywood Battle: Rules, Game Modes & Winning Tips

What You Need to Get Started

Before your first round of Bollywood Battle, you need the Bollywood Battle box with 220 premium linen-finish cards, 3 to 12 players (best enjoyed with 5 or more), and a flat surface for the two card holder compartments and the discard tray. No dice, no tokens, no app required — just the cards and your group's collective Bollywood knowledge.

Setting Up the Game

Place the two card holder compartments in the centre of the table. Shuffle the card deck and split it evenly between both holders. Set the discard tray at one end — this is where played cards go. Divide players into two teams of equal size, or play free-for-all with 3–5 players. The youngest player goes first.

Game Mode 1: Classic Trivia

The active player draws a card and reads a Bollywood trivia question aloud. Questions are categorised by difficulty from Easy (recent blockbusters) to Filmi Expert (only true Bollywood buffs). The opposing team answers first; a correct answer scores a point. An incorrect answer gives the active team a chance to steal.

Game Mode 2: Guess the Hook

One player draws a card and must hum, whistle, or describe a Bollywood song or dialogue — without saying the movie title or character name. Their team has 60 seconds to guess the correct film. Act out emotions and gestures freely — the more dramatic, the better the guesses.

Game Mode 3: Dumb Charades

The acting player draws a card showing a Bollywood film title and must mime the entire title without speaking. Their team guesses within 90 seconds. Start by signalling the number of words using fingers, then mime each word individually.

Winning the Game

The game ends when all cards have been played through once. The team or player with the most points wins. For shorter sessions, set a target score — first to 15 points wins — instead of playing through the full deck.
